I know it’s a bit early to be celebrating, but can you feel it too?
It’s like a large heavy boulder has been rolled off your chest.
The lockdown restrictions have been eased enough to move around.
We can go to our favourite shops instead of just the ones supplying our necessities.
Every time we went down the Main Street over the last few months, we felt the pain of the shopkeeper’s whose livelihoods had been decimated.
As a flooring supplier we have fared better than many, we were still able to install in new build houses and empty rental properties. Since the start of November though we have been very busy, as locals look to sprucing up their homes prior to Christmas.
With warmer and sunnier weather arriving, there seems a spring in everyone’s step and a smile under everyone’s mask as they go about their daily routine. I too am trying to smile with my eyes.
On the Mornington Peninsula we have been lucky, living in such a beautiful part of the world, most of us were able to get in a walk along the beach or through wonderful green spaces. All without flouting the 5km or 25km radius travel rule.
The best thing though is now being able to get together again with family and friends. To share the beautiful Mornington Peninsula with those you love.
Each year we look forward to days with them on the beach, hiring a boat to catch that elusive big schnapper (there’s always flathead), visiting local wineries or a walk down to Bush Ranger’s Bay.
Most of all we love having them at our home for lunch, afternoon tea or a barbeque at sunset.
We always keep a guest room at the ready and of course have a sofa bed as a backup.
We are ready and waiting for each weekend and the Christmas Break to enjoy all that the Peninsula has to offer.
